Heidi decided to walk out on Spencer

Montag attending the Girls Gone Wild Magazine second-issue party in Hollywood in June 2008.

Heidi Blair Pratt born September 15, 1986) is an American reality television personality and recording artist. Montag is known for appearing on the MTV reality series The Hills, which began airing in 2006. The series followed the life of Lauren Conrad, with whom Montag shared an apartment. During the series, Montag began dating fellow cast member Spencer Pratt, whom she eventually married in November 2008.

According to The Hills star’s friend Jennifer Bunney told Weekly magazine  HEIDI Montag is moving in with him because they’re having “issues” in their marriage split from husband Spencer Pratt

“They’re not divorced. They’re going through some issues…I don’t think you move in with your friend if your marriage is completely cruising along. If things are great, you don’t move out and move in with your friend.

“Is Heidi going to be a single, independent woman or is she going to stay with Spencer?… We know fame is fleeting, fame is not going to support us for the rest of our lives. We need to make smart decisions right now.

“We  haven’t found a house yet. We’re looking today.”

Recent reports claimed Heidi decided to walk out on Spencer because he isolated from her friends and family.

The reality TV star, sources said, grew fed up of Spencer’s controlling nature and that the fact he kept her locked away from the outside world.

Heidi was apparently left furious earlier this month when Spencer called the cops on Heid’s mom when she showed up at the couple’s house.

“Heidi wants to break into acting,” an insider told TMZ, “but says people in Hollywood don’t want to work with her because she has ‘a loose cannon of a husband’.”

Heidi’s rep has confirmed she and Spencer are no longer a couple.

“Heidi is looking to move out due to all the fake bad press that Spencer controls,” said the spokesperson. “She’s tired of it and is looking for a place and wants to focus on her acting career.”

“The tension in the relationship has been building for a while now,” a source added. “It wasn’t just a sudden thing.”

Sources recently revealed how Montag was being held hostage by Pratt.

“Spencer’s banned Heidi from watching TV or using the internet and he changes her mobile number every few months,” an insider told Britain’s Now magazine.

“She’s a hostage in her own home. Her family think Spencer’s determined to isolate her from everyone except him.

“He keeps her in the house all day and only takes her out when he thinks there’s a money-making opportunity to be had. He’s terrified of losing control of her.” Heidi Montag.

Flag Day, Monday, Jun. 14, 2010

FIAV 111111.svg Flag of the United States
In the United States, Flag Day is celebrated on June 14. It commemorates the adoption of the flag of the United States, which happened that day by resolution of the Second Continental Congress in 1777.
In 1916, President Woodrow Wilson issued a proclamation that officially established June 14 as Flag Day; in August 1949, National Flag Day was established by an Act of Congress.

Flag Day is not an official federal holiday, though on June 14, 1937, Pennsylvania became the first (and only) U.S. state to celebrate Flag Day as a state holiday, beginning in the town of Rennerdale. Title 36 of the United States Code, Subtitle I, Part A, CHAPTER 1, § 110 is the official statute on Flag Day; however, it is at the President's discretion to proclaim officially the observance.

One of the longest-running Flag Day parades is held annually in Quincy, Massachusetts, which began in 1952 and celebrated its 57th year in 2009. The 59th Annual Appleton Wisconsin 2009 Flag Day Parade will feature the U.S. Navy. City of Appleton Wisconsin. The largest Flag Day parade is held annually in Troy, New York, which bases its parade on the Quincy parade and typically draws 50,000 spectators.
Perhaps the oldest, continuing Flag Day parade is at Fairfield WA . Beginning in 1909 or 1910, Fairfield has held a parade every year since, with the possible exception of 1918, and will celebrate the "Centennial" parade in 2010, along with some other commemorative events.

History
Several people and/or organizations played instrumental roles in the establishment of a national Flag Day celebration. They are identified here in chronological order.

1861, George Morris
The earliest reference to the suggestion of a "Flag Day" is cited in Kansas: a Cyclopedia of State History, published by Standard Publishing Company of Chicago in 1912. It credits George Morris of Hartford, Connecticut:
To George Morris of Hartford, Conn., is popularly given the credit of suggesting "Flag Day," the occasion being in honor of the adoption of the American flag on June 14, 1777. The city of Hartford observed the day in 1861, carrying out a program of a patriotic order, praying for the success of the Federal arms and the preservation of the Union.

The observance apparently did not become a tradition.

Memorial Day, Monday, May. 31, 2010

Today is Memorial Day and the final day of the Memorial Day Sales event at most retailers. We have featured several hot consumer electronic Memorial Day sales and deals over the last days.

Thousands spent Memorial Day Weekend visiting beach towns in the Lowcountry, all the while drumming up sales at local businesses.

“This has been a very busy weekend for our restaurant,“ says John Davis at Rita’s Seaside Grille on Folly Beach.

Davis attributes the strong weekend to fair weather, a recent drop in gas prices and he hopes a turn around in the national economy.

“It says to me that people are out and they are less nervous about spending money,“ says Davis.

To many people, Memorial Day Weekend is the kick off to summer and an indicator how business will fair the rest of the season.

“It’s been bad for the past 2 years and for us just luke-warm this weekend,“ says Joel Flores at Folly Bargains, “we’ll see how it goes.“

Memorial Day - It’s about sacrifice

Nearly 5,300 American soldiers who died in World War II are buried in the U.S. military cemetery in Epinal, France.

Memorial Day. The unofficial start of summer. Pools open. The school year enters the final stretch. Family cookouts. Sales at the local mall. Vacations.

That’s what most people, sadly, think of when Memorial Day comes to mind.

Very few people truly ponder the real purpose of this holiday: to honor the memories of the thousands of Americans who’ve died in the service of their country, fighting in wars around the globe.

The American Battle Monuments Commission cares for two dozen cemeteries around the world, where the remains of hundreds of thousands of America’s sons and daughters rest. Most are from the two great conflicts of the last century: World War I and World II.

To come upon one of these cemeteries is a truly awe-inspiring, life-changing moment. The Epinal American Cemetery and Memorial sits on a plateau above the valley that is home to the village of Epinal, in eastern France. Trudging up the hill to the cemetery, rounding the curve and walking through the open doorway of the memorial, you are hit by sea of white marble headstones. Row after row after row.

Young men who died in the prime of their lives in the bitter action for the Heasbourg Gap in the winter of 1944-45. Young men who would never return to their homes back in the States, their parents and sisters, their girlfriends.

This is what Memorial Day is about. It’s about sacrifice. It’s about recognizing that there’s something bigger than oneself in this petty world. It’s about duty and honor. It’s about embracing the ideals this nation stands for, pulling strings to get into the military, not to run away.

No one who stands in the midst of one of those seas of white marble headstones, gazing down at the grave of a brother, an uncle, a father will ever be the same. That image will forever become what he associates with Memorial Day.

The men and women whose memories we honor today willingly placed themselves in harm’s way for our cookouts, pool parties and sales today.

Bless them. And never forget them.

Once you get in the 70s - no birthday things!

CLINT Eastwood has banned his wife from buying him birthday presents.

The Hollywood legend says he won’t be celebrating when he turns 80 in May next year.

“Once you get in the 70s, several things happen,” Eastwood told The Hollywood Reporter. “One is, you stop celebrating birthdays.

“I’ve forbidden my wife. I said, ‘Please, no birthday things!’ I don’t need to pretend to open a gift and say ‘this is just what I wanted!’

“I said, ‘Don’t get me anything. We’ll just have a glass of wine’. Seventy-nine is not so bad. I might savor it for a while.”

CLINT Eastwood -The Million Dollar Baby star is still determined to try new things,

Clint Eastwood the actor-and-director — who will turn 80 on May 31st — prefers to stay behind the camera and allow younger stars to take center stage, but insists he has no plans to quit acting altogether.

“I leave that to younger actors now,” he said. “I’m not a prize fighter who has to capture another victory. Since I worked as a director for the first time on Play Misty for Me in 1970 I’ve become tired of seeing myself on the big screen.

“That doesn’t mean I’m going to stop acting, though”

The Million Dollar Baby star is still determined to try new things, and believes directing films gives him more opportunities to push himself.

“If you’ve done as many films as I have you stop looking back, you’re only going forwards,” he said.

“As a director it’s important to me to try new things once in a while. And as an actor, if a film is finished you can’t change it and you have to leave it to other people to judge your work.”

Eastwood has previously revealed that he doesn’t celebrate his birthday.

“Once you get in the 70s, several things happen,” he said in December last year.

Sex and the City 2 (2010)

Big Movie Premiere:  Sex and the City 2 BMP: Sneak Peek

May 20, 2010Season 2 Ep. 14101 — Sex and the City 2 star Sarah Jessica Parker opens up about Carrie Bradshaw and how her life has changed since t...
It's more than a decade since Sex and the City began attracting huge TV audiences, delighting generations of women: Seventies feminists who saw the stars as living out the precepts they'd struggled for, and their daughters who suddenly found a language for their own aspirations and anxieties. The characters explicitly set out to have sex like men, and the inclusion of an "older woman" – in those days, anyone in her forties was heading for cardigan-land – made ground-breaking television. Cattrall's Samantha embodied the most liberated version of feminism, even if her struggle with breast cancer towards the end of the series felt like a punishment for the freedom she'd enjoyed.

There were always false notes in the series, but that's inevitable in a show that ran for so many episodes. The new film, unimaginatively entitled Sex and the City 2, is getting even worse reviews than its predecessor, but that's unlikely to damage its prospects at the box office. For the record, I saw the first film twice: once to write about it and the second time with my boyfriend, who loved it.

We don't watch Sex and the City for plot, unexpected twists or subtle characterisation; it's more like catching up with old friends, giving their clothes the once-over and plunging back into the giddy world of talking about sex and relationships.

Danica Patrick - Indy week amid cheers for sixth-place run

Patrick at the 2008 Tribeca Film Festival
Danica Sue Patrick (born March 25, 1982) is an American auto racing driver, currently competing in the IndyCar Series, the ARCA Racing Series presented by RE/MAX and Menards, and the NASCAR Nationwide Series, as well as a model and advertising spokeswoman. Patrick was named the Rookie of the Year for both the 2005 Indianapolis 500 and the 2005 IndyCar Series season. With her win in the 2008 Indy Japan 300, Patrick became the first woman to win an Indy car race. Patrick currently drives the #7 GoDaddy.com Honda/Dallara for Andretti Autosport. In 2010, Patrick raced in the NASCAR Nationwide Series, driving the #7 GoDaddy.com Chevrolet Impala JR Motorsports part-time. She also has an equity stake in her #7 team. She placed 3rd in the 2009 Indianapolis 500, which was both a personal best for her at the track and the highest finish by a woman in the event's history.

Danica Patrick after qualifying for the 2007 Indianapolis 500

Patrick overcame a sometimes ill-handling racecar to finish sixth during Sunday's Indy 500, a remarkable turnaround after the star bashed her Andretti Autosport crew following a poor qualifying effort that left her frustrated and scared.

Her comments drew the ire of fans who are perhaps growing tired of Patrick constantly blaming everyone but herself when things don't go well.

She had a heart-to-heart with teammate Tony Kanaan following the incident, then accepted blame for criticizing her crew. If it rankled her crew, it didn't show.

Thanks to a series of nimble pit stops and some solid if not spectacular driving, Patrick ended up back in her usual spot at the treacherous 2.5-mile oval: inside the top 10.

Todd Bridges and Janet Jackson pay tribute to Gary Coleman,

STARS including Todd Bridges and Janet Jackson have spoken out to pay tribute to Gary Coleman, who died Friday after a fall at his home put him in a coma.

“It’s sad that I’m the last kid alive from the show,” said Bridges, who starred  as Gary’s brother on the ’80s TV series Diff’rent Strokes — about two inner city orphans adopted by a rich family.

“I’m at a loss for words upon learning of Gary Coleman’s passing. I want to remember him as the fun, playful, adorable and affectionate man he was,” Jackson, who made a guest appearance on Diff’rent Strokes, wrote on her Twitter account. “He has left a lasting legacy. I know he is finally at peace.”

A host of other former child stars also took to Twitter to share their grief at Gary’s death.

“Mamas, don’t let your babies grow up to be…actors. r.i.p. gary,” wrote Full House star John Stamos.

Scrubs star Donald Faison Tweeted lyrics to the Diff’rent Strokes theme in memory of Gary.

“Now the world don’t move… To the beat of just one drum… What might be right for you… May not be right for some,” he wrote.

Modern Family’s Eric Stonestreet also recalled memories of the show, writing “Arnold and Abraham the goldfish together again. RIP Gary Coleman.”

Paula Abdul wrote, “I am so sorry to hear the sad news about Gary Coleman. my heartfelt condolences go out to his entire family.”

Robin Leach Tweeted, “Terribly sad news that 41 year-old Gary Coleman has just died after being injured in a fall at his Utah home.”

Gary was admitted to the intensive care unit of the Utah Valley Regional Medical Center earlier this week following the fall, which led to a severe head injury.

His condition was so severe that doctors were unable to operate on the 42-year-old star and his wife Shannon Price decided to turn off his life support machine.

His health had seen a downturn in recent years — as well as suffering a seizure on the set of TV show The Insider, he also underwent heart surgery in 2009.

In Indonesia's Aceh - Tight pants ban takes effect

MEULABOH, Indonesia – Authorities in a devoutly Islamic district of Indonesia's Aceh province have distributed 20,000 long skirts and prohibited shops from selling tight dresses as a regulation banning Muslim women from wearing revealing clothing took effect Thursday.

The long skirts are to be given to Muslim women caught violating the dress code during a two-month campaign to enforce the regulation, said Ramli Mansur, head of West Aceh district.

Islamic police will determine whether a woman's clothing violates the dress code, he said.

During raids Thursday, Islamic police caught 18 women traveling on motorbikes who were wearing traditional headscarves but were also dressed in jeans. Each woman was given a long skirt and her pants were confiscated. They were released from police custody after giving their identities and receiving advice from Islamic preachers.

"I am not wearing sexy outfits, but they caught me like a terrorist only because of my jeans," said Imma, a 40-year-old housewife who uses only one name. She argued that wearing jeans is more comfortable when she travels by motorbike.

Motorbikes are commonly used by both men and women in Indonesia.

"The rule applies only to Muslim residents in West Aceh," Mansur told The Associated Press. "We don't enforce it for non-Muslims, but are asking them to respect us."

He said any shopkeepers caught violating restrictions on selling short skirts and jeans would face a revocation of their business licenses.

No merchants have been seen displaying jeans or tight clothing in stores in West Aceh district in recent weeks.

The regulation is the latest effort to promote strict moral values in the world's most populous Muslim-majority nation, where most of the roughly 200 million Muslims practice a moderate form of the faith.

It does not set out a specific punishment for violators, but says "moral sanctions" will be imposed by local leaders.

Mansur said women caught violating the ban more than three times could face two weeks in detention.

Rights groups say the regulation violates international treaties and the Indonesian constitution.

Aceh, a semiautonomous region, made news last year when its provincial parliament passed an Islamic, or Shariah, law making adultery punishable by stoning to death. It also has imposed prison sentences and public lashings for homosexuals and pedophiles.

Islamic law is not enforced across the vast island nation. But bans on drinking alcohol, gambling and kissing in public, among other activities, have been enforced by some more conservative local governments in recent years.

Opinion polls show that a majority of Indonesians oppose the restrictions on dress and behavior, which are being pushed by hard-liners in the secular democracy.

Herschel Space Observatory

The Herschel Space Observatory is a space observatory that was carried into orbit in May 2009. It was originally proposed in 1982 by a consortium of European scientists. The mission is named after Sir William Herschel, the discoverer of the infrared spectrum and planet Uranus.

Herschel can see the coldest and dustiest objects in space; for example, cool cocoons where stars form and dusty galaxies just starting to bulk up with new stars. The observatory will sift through star-forming clouds—the "slow cookers" of star ingredients—to trace the path by which potentially life-forming molecules, such as water, form.

Herschel is a European Space Agency mission with significant participation from NASA. It is the fourth 'cornerstone' mission in the ESA science program. NASA played a key role in the development of two of the mission's three instruments. NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory in Pasadena, Calif., developed and built the "spider web" bolometers for Herschel's spectral and photometric imaging receiver (SPIRE) instrument, which are 40 times more sensitive than previous versions. It also developed and built mixers, local oscillator chains and power amplifiers for the heterodyne instrument for the far infrared (HIFI).
