Carnie Wilson TV Bosses for Additional Pay

Carnie Wilson Heavyweight singer her new US reality show UNSTAPLED to court to fight for an extra $ 277,500 in pay.

According to the Hollywood Reporter on Thursday, 29 July, 2010 the Wilson Phillips singer filed suit against the executives of the Game Show Network (GSN) ,
She claims was set to receive $120,000 (£80,000) for six weeks of episodes that would be filmed four days a week for six hours a day, for a total of 24 days as part of the series, which chronicles her weightloss battle.

But the show actually required 53 days of shooting and Wilson was forced to work much longer hours prior to its premiere on 14 January (10), according to the court documents.

The complaint reads: "Accordingly, at the rate of $5,000 (£3,330) per day, which is the daily rate of said contract, Defendant GSN owes to (Wilson) the additional amount of $277,500 with legal interest thereon from the final day of shooting."

However, network bosses at GSN claim they have yet to be notified of any litigation.

A GSN spokesperson says: "We are not aware of any lawsuit by Carnie Wilson against GSN."

Wilson, who once weighed in at 300 pounds (136 kilograms), famously underwent gastric bypass surgery in 1999 and lost half of her body weight. She piled the pounds back on while pregnant with daughters Lola, five, and Luciana, one.

Top song Impossibel Lyrics

I remember years ago
Someone told me I should take
Caution when it comes to love
I did, I did

And you were strong and I was not
My illusion, my mistake
I was careless, I forgot
I did

And now when all is done
There is nothing to say
You have gone and so effortlessly
You have won
You can go ahead tell them

Tell them all I know now
Shout it from the roof tops
Write it on the sky line
All we had is gone now

Tell them I was happy
And my heart is broken
All my scars are open
Tell them what I hoped would be
Impossible, impossible
Impossible, impossible

Falling out of love is hard
Falling for betrayal is worst
Broken trust and broken hearts
I know, I know

Thinking all you need is there
Building faith on love and words
Empty promises will wear
I know, I know

And now when all is gone
There is nothing to say
And if you're done with embarrassing me
On your own you can go ahead tell them

Tell them all I know now
Shout it from the roof tops
Write it on the sky line
All we had is gone now

Tell them I was happy
And my heart is broken
All my scars are open
Tell them what I hoped would be
Impossible, impossible
Impossible, impossible
Impossible, impossible
Impossible, impossible!
Ooh impossible (yeah yeah)

I remember years ago
Someone told me I should take
Caution when it comes to love
I did

Tell them all I know now
Shout it from the roof tops
Write it on the sky line
All we had is gone now

Tell them I was happy
And my heart is broken
All my scars are open
Tell them what I hoped would be
Impossible, impossible
Impossible, impossible
Impossible, impossible
Impossible, impossible

I remember years ago
Someone told me I should take
Caution when it comes to love
I did..

You Can Dance So You Can Think

The Fox reality dance Thursday night's seventh season results show.

.

To make a positive decision, So You Think You Can Dance  justify and go action  executive producer Nigel Lythgoe announced the show had decided that Bell's situation was different than those of Galvan and Wong, Everybody wants to dancing after being diagnosed with significant injuries and then eliminated by the judges.

"Billy, you've set a precedent on this show this week.  This is the first time, I think, the doctors have cleared you to dance and you took the decision that you didn't want to dance this week.  What it does do is set a precedent because, you know, you've had a week out now to rest," Lythgoe said.

"And if you were to stay, you can come back next week and dance having taken a week out.  It's a little difficult for us to make a decision about that because you didn't dance this evening, you didn't dance this week."

Lythgoe then revealed the judges' decision to set their own precedent.

"The decision we've taken -- and it's one that we've never, ever taken before -- [is] none of you are going home this week.  [But] two people will go home next week.  Two people," he announced.

"Whoa, whoa... I don't know what this is about, I am as unclear as everybody.  Nobody is going home?" So You Think You Can Dance host Cat Deeley replied.

"Nobody will go home this week, two people will go home next week," Lythgoe repeated.

"Okay, so everybody is going to get the chance to dance again.  And this is to make it fair for next week, is that right?  Is that why?" Deeley asked.

"That's correct," Lythgoe said.

"We just make this show up as we go along," Deeley remarked, expressing the growing concern of many So You Think You Can Dance viewers.

When it eliminated Galvan due to injury last week, So You Think You Can Dance did not -- as it had done the prior week when it eliminated Wong, whom the judges had repeatedly gushed over and considered the competition's frontrunner prior to his injury -- immediately announce that she was invited to return and audition for next year's eighth season.

Instead, Lythgoe only mentioned Galvan's possible participation in this fall's So You Think You Can Dance dance tour.

"I really believe that if you are going to do the tour -- and I know that they're going to introduce dancers from Season 6, Season 7 and the all-stars -- and I believe, if you're healthy enough, you've been chosen to go on that tour," he said.

In addition, Galvan still seemed unclear about her return eligibility and tour participation the following day.

"If I get asked to come back, I probably would, yes.  But then again, I don't know because I am looking forward to doing the tour," she told reporters during a July 16 media conference call.  "Yesterday was my first time hearing about that I was picked for the tour.  So I'm just hoping that it's the truth and I hope that I get to go on and I hope that I get better."

Fox representatives were also unable to clarify whether Ashley was eligible for So You Think You Can Dance's eighth season when contacted by Reality TV World on Monday, but Lythgoe subsequently stated that although the show had not previously mentioned such a dependency, Ashley's return eligibility would depend on whether she opts to participate in the tour.

"Ashley will be invited back to Vegas next year if she doesn't do the tour. FOX feels you can do one or the other. I'm hoping she'll tour!" he wrote on Twitter.

However Lythgoe made no mention of Galvan's purported tour selection during last night's results show when he revealed its participants.

"Obviously, the top male and female from Season 7 are going on tour, and four others yet to be cast," he said.

"The all-stars that have been chosen to go on tour are [Allison Holker] from Season 2, [Dominic Sandoval] from Season 3, [Courtney Galiano] from Season 4, and [Ade Obayomi] from Season 5.  As well as that, we've got the top male and female from Season 6 -- do you remember who the top male was last year, last season?  It was [Russell Ferguson] and [Kathryn McCormick]."

So You Think You Can Dance's next seventh-season broadcast will air on Wednesday, July 28 and expected to feature Bell performing with the rest of the season's six remaining finalists.

"Do you think the leg will be better?" Deeley asked Bell.

"Oh, it will be better, I'll make it better," he replied.

Antivirus software +Internet

Antivirus (or anti-virus) software is used to prevent, detect, and remove malware, including computer viruses, worms, and trojan horses. Such programs may also prevent and remove adware, spyware, and other forms of malware.

A variety of strategies are typically employed. Signature-based detection involves searching for known malicious patterns in executable code. However, it is possible for a user to be infected with new malware for which no signature exists yet. To counter such so-called zero-day threats, heuristics can be used. One type of heuristic approach, generic signatures, can identify new viruses or variants of existing viruses by looking for known malicious code (or slight variations of such code) in files. Some antivirus software can also predict what a file will do if opened/run by emulating it in a sandbox and analyzing what it does to see if it performs any malicious actions. If it does, this could mean the file is malicious.

However, no matter how useful antivirus software is, it can sometimes have drawbacks. Antivirus software can degrade computer performance. Inexperienced users may have trouble understanding the prompts and decisions that antivirus software presents them with. An incorrect decision may lead to a security breach. If the antivirus software employs heuristic detection (of any kind), success depends on achieving the right balance between false positives and false negatives. False positives can be as destructive as false negatives. Finally, antivirus software generally runs at the highly trusted kernel level of the operating system, creating a potential avenue of attack.

In addition to the drawbacks mentioned above, the effectiveness of antivirus software has also been researched and debated. One study found that the detection success of major antivirus software dropped over a one-year period.

History
See also: Timeline of notable computer viruses and worms

Most of the computer viruses that were written in the early and mid '80s were limited to self-reproduction and had no specific damage routine built into the code (research viruses. That changed when more and more programmers became acquainted with virus programming and released viruses that manipulated or even destroyed data on infected computers. It then became necessary to think about antivirus software to fight these malicious viruses.

There are competing claims for the innovator of the first antivirus product. Possibly the first publicly documented removal of a computer virus in the wild was performed by Bernd Fix in 1987.

Fred Cohen, who published one of the first academic papers on computer viruses in 1984, started to develop strategies for antivirus software in 1988 that were picked up and continued by later antivirus software developers.

Also in 1988 a mailing list named VIRUS-L was initiated on the BITNET/EARN network where new viruses and the possibilities of detecting and eliminating viruses were discussed. Some members of this mailing list like John McAfee or Eugene Kaspersky later founded software companies that developed and sold commercial antivirus software.

Before Internet connectivity was widespread, viruses were typically spread by infected floppy disks. Antivirus software came into use, but was updated relatively infrequently. During this time, virus checkers essentially had to check executable files and the boot sectors of floppy and hard disks. However, as internet usage became common, initially through the use of modems, viruses spread throughout the Internet.

Over the years antivirus software had to check many more types of files (and not only executable files) for several reasons:

* Powerful macros used in word processor applications, such as Microsoft Word, presented a further risk. Virus writers started using the macros to write viruses embedded within documents. This meant that computers could now also be at risk from infection by documents with hidden attached macros as programs.
* Later email programs, in particular Microsoft Outlook Express and Outlook, were vulnerable to viruses embedded in the email body itself. Now, a user's computer could be infected by just opening or previewing a message.

As always-on broadband connections became the norm and more and more viruses were released, it became essential to update virus checkers more and more frequently. Even then, a new zero-day virus could become widespread before antivirus companies released an update to protect against it.

$40 mln lawsuit over gig cancellation - Jennifer Lopez faces $40 mln lawsuit over gig cancellation

A hotel in Turkish-occupied northern Cyprus has threatened Jennifer Lopez with a 40 million dollar lawsuit after she cancelled a concert there for "political" reasons, press reports said Sunday.

The chief executive of the Turkish company which runs the hotel and casino complex said Lopez still had time to change her mind about the July 24 gig.

"The contract has not been terminated. If she does not show up for the concert, we will begin a procedure in the courts to claim 35-40 million dollars in damages," warned Murat Bozoglu, speaking from the company's headquarters in Istanbul.

"The cancellation....is not covered by any clause in the contract she signed with us," said Bozoglu.

Lopez drew the wrath of Greek-Cypriots in the southern half of the divided island after the new Cratos Premium hotel and casino complex announced the singer would perform there on her 41st birthday.

But the singer scrapped the plans after criticism that the appearance would make a political statement, entertainment website TMZ.com reported Thursday.

"Jennifer Lopez would never knowingly support any state, country, institution or regime that was associated with any form of human rights abuse," a representative for the American singer and actress told TMZ.

"After a full review of the relevant circumstances in Cyprus, it was the decision of management to withdraw from the appearance. This was a team decision that reflects our sensitivity to the political realities of the region."

The US-based American Hellenic Educational Progressive Association claimed the concert would "lend credence to an illegal entity recognized only by Turkey".

Cyprus has been divided since Turkey occupied the north in 1974 in response to an Athens-engineered coup in Nicosia aimed at uniting the Mediterranean island with Greece.

The TRNC (Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus) is only recognized by Turkey, which maintains troops on the Turkish Cypriot side, while the Greek Cypriot south of the island enjoys international recognition.

Natalie Portman, 29, shows off her sexy legs for her new movie Black Swan.  She plays very talented but she troubled ballerina Nina.
Portman plays the role very interesting character and it is always challenging and surprising, told the USA Today newspaper.

“The fact that I had spent so much time with the idea — Darren and I started discussing doing the film in 2000 — allowed it to marinate a little before we shot.”

Darren Aronofsky of The Wrestler  directed the film  which will be released later this year.

Portman weakness is that she’s “addicted” to chocolate.

“I’m addicted to chocolate,” she said. “I love Chocolate anything. It’s my one big weakness and everyone I know, friends and family, know just how to please me.”

Kate Plus 8 Kate Gosselin is going campaing with Sarah Palin

Kate Gosselin with her former vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin and her gang of eight kids are going to camping. The group are travelling to Alaska to gain more education about America's 49th state. The trip will be obtained by trickery  for Kate Gosselin's latest TLC show, "Kate Plus 8."
Is Kate Gosselin going camping with Sarah Palin? Reports are rolling in that a 'Kate Plus 8' special will feature two of America's most famous moms taking Kate's eight kids on a camping trip in Alaska, where Sarah Palin's retired science teacher father (hold up; her dad was a science teacher?) will teach the kids about some of Alaska's natural history, while Sarah Palin will teach them how to avoid bears (isn't that Stephen Colbert's area of expertise?). So what other activities can Sarah Palin and Kate Gosselin plan for the kids on their camping trip? Here are a few fun options:
A Geography Lesson - Before Kate Gosselin takes the kids camping, they've got to get a geography lesson from Sarah Palin! She can take the kids and Kate to her house to show them where Russia is, and the kids might be enchanted by seeing the site where the magical "bridge to nowhere" was once to be built.

Cooking and Anatomy Lessons - I can just see Sarah Palin and Kate Gosselin dressing a moose and cooking up some yummy moose fingers for the kids on their camping trip. Seeing the two women go at a moose carcass with giant hunting knives while teaching the kids about its anatomy would be a fun learning activity, and the kids could even use the moose blood to create fun paintings in the snow! As an added bonus, they'll also have a pair of antlers and a decorative moose skin to take home as souvenirs.

Word Games - While sitting around the campfire, instead of telling spooky stories (like how Sarah Palin almost became vice president), she can play some fun word games with the kids, encouraging them to butcher the English language the same way they butchered that moose by making up their own fun words (they could grow up to be little Shakespeares like her, after all!). Let's just hope the kids don't refudiate the former governor's good teachings.

Handwriting - I imagine Sarah Palin has excellent handwriting, but I think she'd be able to give Kate Gosselin and the kids better tips about the other form of handwriting when they take a break from braving the elements; that is, writing notes on your hand (it will definitely come in handy when the kids are in high school).

India present to an audience $35 computer

India point fired with concentric circles in the rapid develooment of the nation at school age children and older $35 computer.

Kapil Sibal, Indian Minister for Human Resource Development  unveils 'laptop' computer device in New Delhi on July 22. Kapil  Sibal, Minister for Human Resource Development introduced $35 computer. He added this task as part of their new venture to provide high quality education to children across the country, according to a government official on July 23.

Mumbai, India
$35 computer looks like an iPad, only it's 1/14th the cost: India has unveiled the prototype of a $35 basic touchscreen tablet aimed at students, which it hopes to bring into production by 2011.

If the government can find a manufacturer, the Linux operating system-based computer would be the latest in a string of "world's cheapest" innovations to hit the market out of India, which is home to the 100,000 rupee ($2,127) compact Nano car, the 749 rupees ($16) water purifier and the $2,000 open-heart surgery.

The tablet can be used for functions like word processing, web browsing and video-conferencing. It has a solar power option too — important for India's energy-starved hinterlands — though that add-on costs extra.

"This is our answer to MIT's $100 computer," human resource development minister Kapil Sibal told the Economic Times when he unveiled the device Thursday.

In 2005, Nicholas Negroponte — cofounder of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology's Media Lab — unveiled a prototype of a $100 laptop for children in the developing world. India rejected that as too expensive and embarked on a multiyear effort to develop a cheaper option of its own.

Negroponte's laptop ended up costing about $200, but in May his nonprofit association, One Laptop Per Child, said it plans to launch a basic tablet computer for $99.

Sibal turned to students and professors at India's elite technical universities to develop the $35 tablet after receiving a "lukewarm" response from private sector players. He hopes to get the cost down to $10 eventually.

Mamta Varma, a ministry spokeswoman, said falling hardware costs and intelligent design make the price tag plausible. The tablet doesn't have a hard disk, but instead uses a memory card, much like a mobile phone. The tablet design cuts hardware costs, and the use of open-source software also adds to savings, she said.

Varma said several global manufacturers, including at least one from Taiwan, have shown interest in making the low-cost device, but no manufacturing or distribution deals have been finalized. She declined to name any of the companies.

India plans to subsidize the cost of the tablet for its students, bringing the purchase price down to around $20.

The project is part of an ambitious education technology initiative, which also aims to bring broadband connectivity to India's 25,000 colleges and 504 universities and make study materials available online.

So far nearly 8,500 colleges have been connected and nearly 500 web and video-based courses have been uploaded on YouTube and other portals, the Ministry said.

How News Feed Plays Role

What are News Feeds?
When websites have added new content news feeds allow you to see it . You can read the latest headlines and video in one place, as soon as its published, without having to visit the websites you have taken the feed from.
Feeds are also known as RSS. There is some discussion as to what RSS stands for, but most people plump for 'Really Simple Syndication'. In essence, the feeds themselves are just web pages, designed to be read by computers rather than people How do I start using feeds?

In general, the first thing you need is something called a news reader. This is a piece of software that checks the feeds and lets you read any new articles that have been added. There are many different versions, some of which are accessed using a browser, and some of which are down loadable applications.

Browser-based news readers let you catch up with your RSS feed subscriptions from any computer, whereas down loadable applications let you store them on your main computer, in the same way that you either download your e-mail using Outlook, or keep it on a web-based service like Hotmail.

Once you have chosen a news reader, all you have to do is to decide what content you want it to receive. For example, if you would like the latest BBC News Entertainment stories, simply visit the Entertainment section and you will notice an orange button on the left hand side. .

National Guard Troops Deploying to U.S.-Mexico ..

(CNN) -- U.S. National Guard forces will begin deploying along the U.S. border with Mexico in August and will be fully trained and deployed by the end of the month, government officials announced Monday.

Some 1,200 Army and Air National Guard troops will be in place for a year to assist the Border Patrol in monitoring and capturing illegal immigrants crossing the border into the United States.

They will served as a "gap-filler" while the Customs and Border Patrol agency hires additional staff to fill the demand in protection along the almost 2,000-mile-long southern border with Mexico.

The troops, from the four border states, will be fully trained and in place in California, Arizona, New Mexico and Texas by September 1, according to Gen. Craig McKinley, commander of the National Guard.

The Guard troops will not be involved in law enforcement activities such as arrests of illegal immigrants, but will assist the Border Patrol in looking for the illegal border crossers and smugglers as well as in intelligence gathering. The airmen and soldiers will be armed, but they will be limited by rules of engagement that allow them to shoot only to defend themselves, McKinley said.

The point also was emphasized by Alan D. Bersin, commissioner of U.S. Customs and Border Protection. "The National Guard is there to support the efforts of law enforcement, not to have a direct law enforcement role, not to confront, unless confronted, any particular threat," he said.

The deployment is part of President Barack Obama's border plan announced in late May, when he also requested $500 million in supplemental funds to try to reduce the number of immigrants and smugglers crossing the border daily.

Guard troops will be doled out along the border where the needs are the greatest, according to federal officials.

"We're placing a particular emphasis on the Tucson sector in Arizona, an area favored by smugglers and the principal point of illegal entry into the United States along the southwest border," said John Morton, assistant secretary for immigration and customs enforcement at the Department of Homeland Security.

Arizona will receive most of the forces with 524 troops, while Texas will get 250, California 224, and New Mexico just 72, officials said Monday. Additional troops will perform administrative work.

Customs and Border Patrol will transfer six more aircraft and 300 border agents to the Tucson sector of the border where an increase in human smuggling and illegal border crossings have been occurring, Federal officials said Monday.

Additionally, Morton said a new investigative office for the Border patrol would be opened in the Arizona border town of Ajo as well as the deployment of a border enforcement security task force jump team of specially trained agents in Douglas, Arizona, also along the border.

The supplemental funding asked for by the president will also fund two new unmanned aircraft, known as Unmanned Aerial Vehicles, to monitor the border around Arizona, according to a homeland security official familiar with the new border plan.

Under President George W. Bush, a border deployment of the National Guard called Operation Jump Start started in 2006 and lasted two years. The operation sent more than 6,000 troops to California, Arizona, New Mexico and Texas to repair secondary border fence, construct nearly 1,000 metal barriers and fly Border Patrol agents by helicopter to intercept illegal immigrants.

McKinley said that while the United States is still fighting two wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, the Guard troop deployment will not affect operations in those areas.

"I cannot see a case where we would be overextending the National Guard in this effort," he said.

McKinley also said no deployments to the war zones were adjusted to allows these troops to go to the border.

Bandage iPhone 4 Reception Issues with Antenn-aid

On Friday, Steve Jobs announced that part of Apple's response to the whole iPhone 4 antenna problem would be to offer free cases for all iPhone 4 owners. However, if you don't like the idea of having your beautiful phone marred by a bumper or other case, consider this adorable (and inexpensive) option to masking tape or silicon: the Antenn-aid.

Antenn-aids are described by the seller as "custom vinyl sitcker[s] for your iPhone 4." The Band-Aid for your iDevice is designed to be placed over the lower left corner of the antenna. And while the seller takes great pains to ensure that buyers understand that the Antenna-aid is for entertainment purposes only, chances are, the solution will work at least as well as tape or another type of protective covering.

The bandages are being sold in packs of six for $4.99. Each Antenna-aid is a different color so you can color-coordinate.

How useful (or not) the decals actually are is kind of irrelevant. We're just really taken by the ingenuity and creativity of such a creation. As much as I love my iPhone 4, I still find the idea of having to have a bandage for the device just to make a phone call (assuming you hold your phone while touching the problem areas) absolutely hysterical.

Zsa Zsa Gabor out of hip replacement surgery

LOS ANGELES – Her husband says Zsa Zsa Gabor underwent successful surgery Monday to replace the hip she broke over the weekend when she fell out of bed at her Bel-Air home.
Prince Frederic von Anhalt says the 93-year-old actress was in surgery for 3 1/2 hours at Ronald Reagan UCLA medical center. In a telephone call, he said she was in recovery and he was waiting to see her.

He said her surgeon was happy with everything and there were no problems.

Publicist John Blanchette said Gabor was watching television Saturday night when she reached to answer the phone and tumbled to the floor.

The actress is partially paralyzed from a 2002 car accident, which required her to use a wheelchair. She also reportedly had a stroke in 2005.

SEE Megan Fox in her bra and knickers!

MEGAN FOX IN HER BRA AND KNICKERS FOR NEW ARMANI AD!

MEGAN Fox strips down to her bra and knickers for the Armani Underwear and Armani Jeans Autumn/Winter 2010-2011 advertising campaign.

The campaign shot on location in Los Angeles and will roll out starting from July around the world on online on signature billboards in major cities such as New York, Los Angeles, London, Milan, Rome, Paris and Tokyo.

In addition to the outdoor and digital campaigns, September will see the release of a Cinema commercial with Fox to showcase the collections, according to a release from Armani.

Fox, 24, has previously confessed that she uses her body to get herself attention.

“I’ve always laughed at actresses who complain about having to do sexy roles when they’re starting out,”  she said last year. “Who are they kidding? That’s the key to getting attention and moving on to better things.

“I grew up with this rebellious streak of not wanting to conform. I was sent to this strict Christian school that I hated and we were all told that the theory of evolution was wrong and sex was wrong. It was a nightmare.

“Women are supposed to project their sexuality yet there’s this strange stigma when it comes to talking about sex. I’m not afraid to say how much I enjoy sex. I’m not shy.”

Health benefits of virgin olive oil

A report from the University of California, Davis
Many of the olive oils lining supermarket shelves in the United States are not the top-grade extra-virgin oils their labels proclaim, according to a report from the University of California, Davis

Researchers analyzed popular brands and found 69 percent of imported oils and 10 percent of domestic oils sampled did not meet the international standards that define the pure, cold-pressed, olive oils that deserve the extra-virgin title.

"Consumers, retailers and regulators should really start asking questions," said Dan Flynn, executive director of UC Davis' Olive Oil Center, which conducted the study in partnership with the Australian Oils Research Laboratory, in South Wales.

Funding for the study came in part from California olive oil producers and the California Olive Oil Council, a trade group that works to promote locally produced oils.

Although the survey's sample size was relatively small and selected at random — 19 widely distributed brands purchased from retailers in San Francisco Bay Area, Sacramento and Los Angeles — the study held the claims on their labels to a scientifically verifiable standard, said Flynn.

The results came as the U.S. Department of Agriculture prepares to adopted scientifically verifiable standards for nomenclature such as "virgin" or "extra virgin," in an effort to clear up concerns about labeling accuracy. The standards will be implemented in October, and are similar to those upheld by the International OliveCouncil.

The "extra-virgin" designation indicates that the oil was extracted without the use of heat or chemicals, is pure, satisfies a taste test and falls within chemical parameters established by the IOC.

The United States is the world's third-largest consumer of olive oil, 99 percent of which comes from foreign producers.

The North American Olive Oil Association, which represents most olive oil importers, has conducted its own tests for years on the products it imports, and found problems with only one percent of samples, said its president, Bob Bauer.

He also questioned the objectivity of a study financed in part by California olive oil producers.

"The research was done by academics, but with funds supplied by the industry," Bauer said. "When you look at results that are so different from ours, it does raise some questions."

The head of the Olive Oil Chemistry and Standardization Unit at the International Olive Council, based in Spain, was not available for comment.

The study found that olive oil from Whole Foods, the country's largest organic food retailer, failed to meet two of the nine chemical parameters established for extra-virgin olive oil by the IOC. The company said it had not reviewed the study, but that it stands behind their 365 Everyday Value 100 percent Italian Extra-VirginOlive Oil.

Whole Foods' supplier performs independent tests meant to ensure the oil "meets our requirements and the industry standards for extra-virgin olive oil," said spokeswoman Jennifer Marples.

There have long been questions about the quality of some of the olive oil being sold as extra virgin, said Flynn.

Olive oil production is labor intensive and costly. Poor quality oils can be made from olives that are too ripe or damaged. Extra-virgin olive oil is also fragile — it is susceptible to oxidation and degradation of its aromatic compounds due to aging, or to exposure to high temperatures and light.

The delicate nature of the production has led to adulteration, where extra-virgin olive oil was blended with cheaper, refined olive oil, or with seed or nut oils.

The discovery of altered oils in the 1990s led the European Union, which produces much of the world's supply, to create an investigative task force to look into the matter.

The results of the survey weren't surprising to Ruth Mercurio, who owns and runs We Olive, a California chain of stores specializing in olive oil.

"It's sad for consumers that there is fraud out there," said Mercurio, who has trained in-house tasters to help verify the quality of their product. "It's a problem, and maybe this will get folks to perk up and listen."

Johnny Depp's be the partner of: Our love is blind to reasoning

Well, we already wished that we were dating Johnny Depp, and an anecdote shared by his girlfriend Vanessa Paradis confirms it. The French siren says Mr. Depp bought her a pair of Ferragamo shoes once worn by Marilyn Monroe:

"He spoils me. He actually bought me the Marilyn Monroe shoes. Monroe's someone who touches me really deeply. I truly admire both actress and the singer that she was. I love 'Lazy' and so many of her songs. She had a velvety voice."

Vanessa Paradis "can't believe" other couples have the depth of feelings she has with Johnny Depp.

The French actress-and-singer - who has children Lily-Rose, 1, and 8-year-old Jack with the "Alice in Wonderland" star - claims she fell for the hunk as soon as they met and they connected instantly.

She said: "When we met each other, we just knew - 'This is the one'. And we were right.

"I can't believe any two people love the way that we love."

And Vanessa, 37, revealed that she doesn't just love the actor for his gorgeous looks.

She added "People might think it's easy to love someone like him because he's so gorgeous looking, but the thing about Johnny is that he's even more gorgeous on the inside."

Johnny, 47, has previously spoken of his quick attraction to Vanessa, who he has been in relationship with for 12 years.

He said: "I saw her across a room and I thought, 'What's happening to me?''

Jennifer Love Hewitt

JENNIFER Love Hewitt desire to be a comical woman!

The Ghost Whisperer actress — who stars in the journey of a lifetime new original movie The Client List — says she’d like to try her hand at a more comedic role if she returns to television.
“Some of the TV stuff I’m looking at is comedy stuff, I think if I do something I would like to try something a little lighter and not a one-hour drama schedule,” she said.

“That’s the most daunting part. My time on TV has been awesome, between Party Of Five and Ghost Whisperer I’ve been severely lucky in great long runs on TV series that were attached to the heart and got into the audiences’ hearts
“I definitely am not in a rush to move back into TV right away and if I do it will probably be under different circumstances. I don’t think I’ll be crossing people over!”

Jennifer recently revealed she doesn’t weight herself — and urged other young women to do the same.

“I don’t have scales any more and I don’t weigh myself,” she said. “I would urge women everywhere to throw out their scales.

“Even when I go to the doctor’s office I’m like, ‘Don’t tell me’. Just write it on your chart and don’t tell me.’ It does you no good to know.”

Whoopi Goldberg - Biography

Whoopi Goldberg Biography
Whoopi Goldberg was born Caryn Johnson in New York City. Her mother, a nurse and teacher, raised her daughter and a son on her own after Whoopi's preacher father left the family. The future star spent the first years of her life in a public housing project in Manhattan. Drawn to the theater from earliest childhood, she made her performing debut at age eight with the Helena Rubinstein Children's Theatre at the Hudson Guild. After dropping out of high school at 14, she lied about her age to find work as a summer camp counselor, and singing in the choruses of the Broadway shows Hair, Jesus Christ Superstar and Pippin. After surviving an early experience with drug addiction, she married at age 18, and gave birth to a daughter, Alexandrea.

After breaking with her husband, she and Alexandrea moved to California in 1974. The following year she helped found the San Diego Repertory Theatre and joined the improvisational theater group Spontaneous Combustion. It was at this time that Caryn Johnson adopted her distinctive stage name -- Whoopi Goldberg -- and began to develop the character monologues that were to make her famous. After moving to the San Francisco Bay Area, she joined another improvisational group, the Blake Street Hawkeyes, and acquired a large local following for her work as a stand-up comedian. Soon she was touring the U.S. and Europe with her one-woman production, The Spook Show.

Whoopi Goldberg Biography Photo
In 1983, Whoopi Goldberg brought The Spook Show to New York's Dance Theater Workshop, where it attracted immediate critical attention. The legendary director Mike Nichols saw her perform, and the following year presented her on Broadway in a revised version of her solo act, titled simply, Whoopi Goldberg. The one-woman show played to sold-out audiences into 1985, and brought her to the attention of Steven Spielberg, who cast her in the leading role in his film of Alice Walker's acclaimed novel, The Color Purple. Making her film debut in this coveted role instantly established Goldberg as one of Hollywood's leading dramatic actresses. Her powerful performance brought her a Golden Globe and her first Oscar nomination.

Goldberg followed her triumph in The Color Purple with a successful comic vehicle, Jumping Jack Flash, but her next few comedies were box office disappointments. Dramatic performances in the films Clara's Heart and The Long Walk Home won her critical praise but also failed to find the large audiences the studios were banking on. At the close of the 1980s, Whoopi Goldberg was still very much in demand as a live performer, and with her friends Robin Williams and Billy Crystal, she headlined the popular Comic Relief television specials to support charities aiding the homeless.

In 1990, Goldberg began two seasons starring in the television sitcom Baghdad Café. In the same year, her faltering film career revived suddenly with her supporting role in the surprise hit Ghost. In the opinion of many critics, it was her performance as a phony -- if well-intentioned -- psychic that made the film a stand-out. Once again, the film industry was excited about Whoopi Goldberg, and she took home the year's Oscar for Best Supporting Actress. She followed this with the box-office smash Sister Act, which cast her as a hard-boiled nightclub singer hiding out in a convent. The worldwide success of this comedy catapulted Whoopi Goldberg into the ranks of Hollywood's top stars and led inevitably to a sequel. At the time of Sister Act 2: Back in the Habit, she was the highest paid actress in history. She earned continued respect from critics as well, with her appearance as a police detective in Robert Altman's The Player.

Whoopi Goldberg Biography Photo
Goldberg also enjoyed success on television, with a recurring guest role, "Guinan," on Star Trek: The Next Generation, a character she reprised in two Star Trek movies. Her other film successes in the 1990s included Made In America; Corinna, Corinna; Boys on the Side; and a voiceover role in the animated classic The Lion King. A late night talk program, The Whoopi Goldberg Show, proved the comedian and actress to be a serious and thoughtful observer of the political scene, but was cancelled after a single season. Goldberg won rave reviews hosting the annual Oscar telecast in 1994 and hosted the program again in 1996, 1999 and 2002. The following year, she starred in the TV sitcom Whoopi for a single season. She has also produced television series such as Strong Medicine on the Lifetime channel and Whoopi's Littleburg on Nickelodeon.

On the 20th anniversary of her Broadway success, Whoopi Goldberg revived her one-woman show for another successful run at New York's Lyceum Theatre. Over the course of her career, she has won every major honor awarded by the entertainment industry: the Oscar, Emmy, Grammy and Tony Awards. She has also received the Mark Twain Award for American Humor, presented in a 2001 ceremony at the Kennedy Center in Washington. Whoopi Goldberg has long been one of the most recognizable and best-loved figures in American popular culture. Since the summer of 2007, she has been a daily presence in American homes, as co-host of ABC's morning talk show The View. You're not the only one frustrated by the new iPhone's reception problems.
.Whoopi Goldberg vented on The View that she was so frustrated by her "bad" iPhone 4's service problems and dropped calls that she "murdered" her smartphone by smashing it in her car door.

"The people couldn't get a hold of me," she said, explaining that the phone cut out during an on-air interview. "My phone would ring and ring and ring to them, but wouldn't do anything to me. I couldn't hear it."

It wasn't just the service that irked Whoopi. "It threw away emails," she lamented. "My phone was bad; it wasn't just that the antenna was bad, it was bad."

So Whoopi took matters into her own hands and "murdered" her phone. "I took that bad boy, I opened the car door, and I said 'DAMN,'" she said, miming shutting the phone into her door.

Despite the phone's issues, she hasn't switched to a BlackBerry or Android device--Whoopi said she went out and got a 3G model instead. She also noted she has lots of love for Apple's iPad.

White House - To Fight HIV/AIDS‎

White House to Spy on to collide of stimulus package
It's to calculated that every 9.5 minutes someone in this country contracts a new case  of HIV. That's such a shocking figure that this should also come as a shock: while for years there's been an international strategy to raise awareness about HIV and AIDS and slash infection rates around the world, there's never been a comprehensive strategy in the United States – until now.

“We have learned what we can do to stop the spread of the disease,” announced  President Barack Obama on Tuesday. “We've learned what we can do to extend the  lives of people living with it. So the question is not whether we know what to do, but whether we will do it?”

The plan aims to cut the number of new HIV infections by 25 percent over the next five years and increase access to care for those living with HIV and AIDS. The strategy also takes a stab at dealing with the fact that some groups have a much higher infection rate than others.

The federal government currently spends about $19 billion each year on AIDS programs across the country. That money is being redirected to target highest-risk populations, which include gay and bisexual men and black Americans.
Because New York City remains at the center of the nation's AIDS crisis, the city could stand to gain a good chunk of prevention funding and other services.
“We think that will aid significantly in our efforts and we know that anything  that decreases the barriers for getting tested for HIV will go a long way to helping people, all people, in New York City learn their status,” says Dr. Blayne Cultler, director of the NYC Health Department’s HIV Prevention Program.

Most organizations, advocates, doctors, and people living with HIV and AIDS, say Obama's plan is a good first step, but they'll be watching closely to see if resources go far enough to back up the administration's policy. “You can have a great plan, a great strategy, but if you can't actually implement it, or if you can't finance it, people are going to be disappointed and the expectations that you've raised are going to be dashed,” said Shimmy Mehta, founder and chief executive of Angelwish.org, an organization devoted to helping children living with HIV and AIDS.

Some federal resources are already being reallocated. The Obama administration is also relying on changes that come with health reform to help meet goals.

House Democrats are lashing out at the White House, venting long-suppressed anger over what they see as President Obama's lukewarm efforts to help them win reelection -- and accusing administration officials of undermining the party's chances of retaining the majority in November's midterm elections.

In recent weeks, a widespread belief has taken hold among Democratic House members that they have dutifully gone along with the White House on politically risky issues -- including the stimulus plan, the health-care overhaul and climate change -- without seeing much, if anything, in return. Many of them are angry that Obama has actively campaigned for Democratic Senate candidates but has done fewer events for House members.

The boiling point came Tuesday night during a closed-door meeting of House Democrats in the Capitol. Speaker Nancy Pelosi (Calif.) excoriated White House press secretary Robert Gibbs's public comments over the weekend that the House majority was in doubt and that it would take "strong campaigns by Democrats" to avert dramatic losses.

"What the hell do they think we've been doing the last 12 months? We're the ones who have been taking the tough votes," Rep. Bill Pascrell Jr. (N.J.) said in an interview Wednesday.

Attempting to quell the uprising, Obama met privately with House Democratic leaders Wednesday evening to reassure them of his support. Aides said the meeting went well and focused on the agenda in the run-up to the elections.

(The Fix: Top 10 Senate races that turned ugly)

Before the meeting, Gibbs sought to play down the tensions, describing his relationship with Pelosi as "cordial." He stood by his earlier remarks that the House could flip to the Republicans but again expressed confidence that Democrats would retain control. Another Democratic official, familiar with White House strategy, said that there is a "misperception" among House Democrats that Obama, a former senator, favors his old chamber over the House. The official placed the blame largely on polling data that continue to show the president and Congress in poor shape.
Though politically provocative, Gibbs's comments -- first on NBC's "Meet the Press" on Sunday and again at his regular briefing Monday -- were largely seen as accurate in Washington. Analysts estimate that about 60 Democratic House seats are in jeopardy; Republicans need a net gain of 39 to claim the majority. But the press secretary's public airing of the dire situation reinforced the feeling among House Democrats that Obama's priority is building a firewall around the Senate majority.

"What they wanted to do is separate themselves from us," Pascrell said Wednesday. He accused the White House of wanting to preemptively pin the blame on lawmakers running poor campaigns should Democrats lose the majority and not on Obama's own sagging approval ratings.

At the Tuesday night meeting with Pelosi, lawmakers groused that the White House was taking them for granted. Pascrell was especially vocal and punctuated his complaints by reading Gibbs's comments word for word in front of the caucus. After he spoke, Pelosi interjected. "I disagree on one point -- I think you were too kind to Mr. Gibbs," she said, according to Democrats familiar with her comments. Publicly, the speaker and other members of the leadership have distanced themselves from Pascrell's view that Gibbs's remarks were part of a White House plan.

Pascrell and Pelosi were the only Democrats to address the meeting. But interviews with more than 10 lawmakers and senior aides, from liberal and conservative districts, made it clear that scores of House Democrats at the gathering shared Pascrell's and Pelosi's dissatisfaction. Most of those interviewed did not want to be quoted by name criticizing the president.

House members complain that the White House routinely shows them disrespect. Until recently, some said, administration aides would wait until the last minute to inform them when a Cabinet official would be traveling to their districts to give a speech or announce a government grant. Lawmakers love these events, which let them take advantage of local press coverage.

Lawmakers love these events, which let them take advantage of local press coverage.

House Democrats are far more upset that they have repeatedly voted to support Obama's agenda and then felt they were left to fend for themselves when the legislation was watered down in the Senate. First with the nearly $800 billion stimulus plan and then again with the landmark health-care bill, House members approved far-reaching, controversial early versions that reflected the White House's desires. But the bills stalled in the Senate under Republican filibuster threats and were scaled back. Now these lawmakers are left to defend their earlier votes on the campaign trail.

Some representatives from industrial states are especially angry over their efforts to enact climate change legislation. At the urging of the president and Pelosi, the House narrowly approved a controversial bill in June 2009. But more than a year later, the Senate has yet to take up the issue, leaving lawmakers feeling as if the White House pushed them to take a huge political risk -- and one they now have to explain to the voters -- for nothing.

"My experience is, we always feel neglected. The experience the Republicans had with Bush -- they felt neglected. That's the nature of the relationship between the House and the White House," House Majority Leader Steny H. Hoyer (Md.) said before Wednesday night's White House huddle. "Tonight's all about coordination, focus, going forward, how we maximize our message."

House leaders have begun to keep close track of Obama's campaign trips. By congressional and White House estimates, Obama has done four events benefiting nine House Democratic candidates, and one event solely for the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee, the political organization that raises money for House candidates. He's headlined a pair of joint fundraisers for the DCCC and other party committees. (Vice President Biden has been the go-to figure for House Democrats, playing the emcee at 29 events benefiting 36 candidates.)

By contrast, Obama has attended headline events for Senate Democratic candidates in 10 states. The broader complaint, from both liberals and moderates, is that a White House led by former members of Congress now seems out of touch with their needs.

"The Democrats have overreached, and that's one reason why there are so many races in play," said Rep. Chet Edwards (Tex.), a centrist facing his toughest election in years. "Rahm Emanuel knows as well as anyone the challenges moderate and conservative Democrats face in their districts. I think there are some, in the administration and in Congress, who don't fully understand the political dynamics."

Obama's recent promotion of comprehensive immigration reform and a South Korea trade deal exacerbated those tensions, pushing issues that do not play well in conservative districts. It also angered liberals who see little hope of passing those issues through the Senate and are tired of watching endangered House colleagues forced into tough votes.

One House Democrat compared their relationship with the White House to the 1970s Life commercials starring "Mikey," the kid whose brothers trick him into eating the cereal. "There's a sense that's the White House's attitude toward us," the lawmaker said. "And now, Mikey ate it and he's choking on it, and there's no appreciation."

Ashton Kutcher, Demi Moore one with another Go on Master Cleanse

The couple that dispossess themselves together...?
Ashton Kutcher and Demi Moore have gone on the super-strict Master Cleanse together, they announced on Twitter.
Is that why they look so good?

Demi Moore and Ashton Kutcher are currently existing on a mix of lemon, cayenne pepper and maple syrup, according to Demi's tweeting.

On Sunday she tweeted that she and her husband were doing the master cleanse and, rather than weight loss or appearance, 'this is about health!!!' Triple exclamation points hers.

Earlier in the day she had tweeted, '2nd day of master cleanse and off to hike with hubby and the dogs. 2nd day better than the 1st!' and she added that she and her husband were doing it together.

Naomi Campbell recently told Oprah that she is a proponent of the extreme diet. Even Josh Brolin and Eddie Vedder have tried it out.

For a lot more celebrity diets and detoxes.

Gwyneth Paltrow is never shy about sharing her detox regimen, down to bowel movement advice (castor oil!), but she's not the only celebrity to tout the benefits of the occasional cleanse to lose weight quickly. Which of these detoxes and diets are sensible, and which are crazy?

The eating plan -- which Beyonce also used to slim down for Dreamgirls -- features "meals" that consist of maple syrup, lemon water and cayenne pepper.

Moore, 47, swears she's not doing it to lose weight. "This is about health!!!" she Twittered on Sunday.

She added shortly after, "2nd day of master cleanse and off to hike with hubby and the dogs. 2nd day better than the 1st!"

Still, she may not make it much longer. "Let you know if I make it to day 4," she told one of her followers.

If you’re a gym rat, there’s a pretty good chance that, at some point in your life, you’ve followed a set workout regimen. It’s one thing to lift a few weights and run on the treadmill, but if you’re looking for results, it’s a great idea to read up on some set workouts, pick one and follow it. Throughout the last few decades, a number of workouts have completely changed the way people get in shape.
Jersey Shore guidette Nicole "Snooki" Polizzi doesn't like what she sees in the mirror. "I used to be fit," she tells UsMagazine.com. "Now I look at myself, and I'm like, What the hell happened?"

Kutcher, 32, is having an even harder time. "9 hrs into the master cleanse. I want a steak, a beer, and a blow-pop. Hmmm this is gonna be rough," he wrote Saturday.

Martin Lawrence tied the knot Longtime Girlfriend Shamicka Gibbs

An American actor, comedian, director, and producer  Martin Lawrence marries over the weekend. The funnyman tied the knot his longtime girlfriend, Shamicka Gibbs, on Saturday at his Beverly Hills home.

People magazine reports that 120 guests, including Oscar-winning actor Denzel Washington and fellow comedian Eddie Murphy, watched the pair swap vows. The couple's daughters served as flower girls and guests celebrated the nuptials under a tent in Lawrence's backyard.

In addition to getting married, Lawrence has been mulling a different kind of pairing on the big screen. The star revealed to MTV News earlier this year that he might team up with Will Smith for another installment of the action-packed "Bad Boys" series.

"I got Big Willie to come down and see me about the movie. I felt special," Lawrence told MTV News in April. "Any time you can get Big Willie to come out and talk about doing a third installment of a hot movie like 'Bad Boys,' you have to take notice. I met with [director] Michael Bay, and he said he's onboard too — so it's real."
Lawrence said the decision to bring the buddy-cop series back to theaters is in the hands of a Hollywood bigwig. "We're just waiting on [producer] Jerry Bruckheimer to let us know when it's really real." In an interview with MTV News the following month, Bruckheimer seemed open to the idea of a Mike Lowery-Marcus Burnett reunion. "We're talking about it," Bruckheimer said. "Will Smith came up with a terrific idea for a screenplay, and we've been working on a script, so we'll keep our fingers crossed."

This report is from MTV News.
